Academics need fun, too: fostering fun and instilling library joy in a large academic library setting

Through the development of a menu of passive and active engagement initiatives, a team of STEM library staff and faculty at a large R1 university have worked to encourage students to visit their library and utilize its spaces and resources beyond traditional academic need. By implementing fun and interactive activities and events, they aim to create a library space built for both work and fun by attending to the holistic needs of their student population. This presentation will describe the various initiatives and show impact through data and student testimonials.
